Outer Gulf Islands RCMP Victim Services PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Pender Islands Fire Protection Society is seeking applicants for the Outer Gulf Islands RCMP Victim Services Program Coordinator Job Shared Position (40 Hours per Month).

Qualifications

  • Pass and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability and Security Clearance
  • Must be fully vaccinated for the COVID 19 virus unless there is a medical or religious exemption
  • Related post-secondary education and/or combination of training, education & experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with strong computer skills
  • Possess a valid BC Driver’s License with safe driving record and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Flexibility (weekends, evenings etc.) required as work varies as needed
  • Ability to manage stress and work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision

Duties

  • Ensure the goals and objectives of the program are met Carry a crisis response phone as part of after hours on call service
  • Deliver immediate crisis intervention and follow up services to all victims and witnesses of crime and other trauma
  • Maintain a sound working relationship with the Detachment NCO to ensure adherence to RCMP protocols.
  • Ensure a sound working relationship with the contract holder for the RCMP Victim Services Program.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures and protocols
  • Ability to provide support to victims and witnesses of crime and other trauma, with knowledge of victim’s rights under the Victims of Crime Act
  • Knowledge of services available through community agencies and organizations
  • Knowledge of and maintain RCMP protocol and procedures related to the work performed
  • Maintain strict standards of confidentiality, ethical and professional boundaries
  • Knowledge of police and criminal court procedures related to the work performed
  • Provide criminal justice information; assist with court preparation and justice system related forms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to prepare reports, correspondence and provide presentations
  • Assess client safety issues; identify needs and develop a safety plan
  • Establish and maintain a sound working relationship with RCMP, Crown Counsel, Community Based Victim Services, Community Corrections and a variety of other community agencies
  • Work effectively, both as a team and independently
